Swaminathan, who passed away today at the age of 98 in Chennai, September 28, 2023. Dr. Swaminathan, often hailed as the main architect of the Green Revolution in India, breathed his last at 11:20 a.m. in Chennai, where he had dedicated his life to advancing agricultural science. Born on August 7, 1925, his legacy is marked by decades of tireless work to transform India's agricultural landscape.

Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan's leadership and groundbreaking contributions to the introduction and advancement of high-yielding varieties of wheat and rice have earned him the well-deserved title of being the primary driving force behind India's Green Revolution.
